People who have inspired me

My daughter told me that I was whinning in my last post. That wasn't my intent. I was trying to point out that preachers do a lot more stuff than people realize.

The USA Today ran an article for its 25th anniversary to site the people that have inspired them over the last 25 years. Some great names were on the list: people of flight United 93, Lance Armstrong, "Mattie", Oprah, Nelson Mandella, etc.

Got me to thinking about the people that have inspired me. (Jesus is a given). Here is a few on my list - in no order of importance following my parents and children :

.) My father and mother.

.) My children

.) George Washington

.) Abraham Lincoln

.) Ronald Reagan

.) Jerry Jones (teacher, mentor)

.) Jimmy Allen (professor in college)

.) Mrs. Howerton (my high school biology teacher)

.) Bill Hybels

.) Mrs. Humphrey (5th grade teacher)

.) Norman Dale
.) Brick Hendricks
.) Ruby Bridges
.) T.L.Spears
.) Billy Blakney
.) Max Lucado
.) Alexander Campbell
.) George Baldwin
.) Lillie Rucks
.) Lucille Walls
.) Marcille Breeding
.) Steve Saint
.) "Mattie"
.) JFK
.) Martin Luther King, Jr.
.) Marvin Phillips
27) Randy & Martha Crider
.) Jackie Robinson
.) People of United 93
.) Jim Cymbala
.) Steve Osborn
.) Ann Kullberg
.) Rick Atchley
.) Mike Cope
.) Harry Fox
.) Chuck Mix
.) George Patton
.) Ben Franklin
.) Harold Abrahams
.) Steve Meeks
.) Marshal Keeble
.) Rick Warren
.) Clint O. Crowe
.) Erwin McManus
.) Andy Stanley

I'm sure I'll think of a few more - right after I push the "publish" button. Here's a question worth pondering today - you has inspired you? and why?

Hello, Randy! Nice list. (21) Marcille Breeding is my favorite aunt.

My wife and I have decided to move to SLC, and we'll be in town with our oldest kid this weekend to look for houses. We look forward to worshiping there on Sunday. I'm glad to know that there is a properly devoted Razorback fan in the area.

(By the way, Clement's Doughnuts is no more. I was distraught when I heard it closed. I still think of it when I have a mediocre apple fritter or raspberry-filling. I think it's a dress shop now, or maybe a ladies' sporting goods store.)

Brian, Thanks for giving the list to Marcille. It's a small world after all! Look forward to you guys living here in SLC! Another Hog fan is always a good thing! You do bring a discouraging word about Clement's Doughnuts. They had the best buttercream filled doughnut in the world! (Krsipy Kreme comes close) I went to school with Mr. Clement's son, Dennis.
