best remake of all time?

In looking over the movies offered this summer I am disappointed to see so many remakes of old movies. Today, "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory" continues the trend. (The "Bad News Bears" screening is tomorrow).
What, in your opinion, is the best remake of all time?

In my opinion, a good remake has to improve on the original. That usually means that the best remakes are remakes on an obscure original.

My vote goes to the Ladykillers. Most people are not even aware that the original exists. The original is fine, but it doesn't have the character of the remake. The Cohen brothers are good at what they do. In my opinion, Irma Hall, who plays Mrs. Munson, was overlooked for an Oscar nomination.

You got me thinking...you know there really aren't that many good remakes out there! One good recent one that does come to mind is Ocean's 11. Mind you that does not include Ocean's 12.

In my mind, Batman Begins has to rank up there too. I'm not sure if it is technically condisered a remake, but its head and shoulders above the other ones.

Oceans 11 is probably as good a remake as you can find. I agree that Parent Trap and Cheaper By The Dozen were good remakes as well.

Call me a sucker, but I loved The remake of Planet of the Apes, although I loved the original ones.
